THINGS TO CONSIDER WHEN CHOOSING A BREEDER

DS_121218_FL_088042-(ZF-6320-15690-1-001

Most often, a good reputable breeder has interest in a few breeds. The purpose of their breeding program is to continually strive to bring their bloodlines closest to the breed standard. A reputable breeder spends a great deal of time, effort and money showing their dogs, socializing their dogs, having their breeding dogs tested for genetic defects, and being very careful to place their puppies in permanent, loving homes. They spend countless hours developing their breeding plan and always strive to improve the genetic base.

A reputable breeder wants to know about you and develop a relationship with you. They enjoy updates and photographs of their puppies as they grow and are always available to help with any questions or concerns about their puppies. Many breeders are dependent on your feedback to determine if their breeding plans are on the right track. One of the most important things to know is that a reputable breeder has nothing to hide. They want you to meet the parents of the puppies and see the environment the puppies are raised in. A reputable breeder will at any time for any reason, take any of the puppies they’ve bred back into their care for the lifetime of the dog, taking full responsibility for the dogs that they have produced.

We believe there are many reputable breeders out there, doing a fine job of raising healthy and sound puppies. But buyers must do their homework. Your first step is to find a breeder who's philosophy and program most closely matches your personality.  Visit the breeder, meet the parents of the puppies, inspect the environment the puppies were raised in, ask lots of questions. Please be very careful when choosing your Spanish Water Dog, Hungarian Pumi or Lagotto Romagnolo. We firmly believe you should choose who you want to work with first, then work on finding the perfect dog for you and your family. .

We are proud to be partnered with the AKC Bred with H.E.A.R.T. program. All of our dogs are AKC registered, CHIC health tested and Optimal Selection DNA tested.

I AM A BREEDER

I spend a lifetime learning pedigrees, going over dogs, talking and learning from those in my breed and those outside it. I raise each litter as if I gave birth to them and spend an equal amount of time finding them loving forever homes. I only put puppies on this planet that I think will be the healthiest (mentally and physically) and nicest examples of their breed. I support each family who chooses one of my puppies and let them know they are now a part of our extended family. I am there if one needs to come back and will aggressively pursue the return of one of my dogs if its in the wrong place. I support my breed in rescue and education. I hold them when they arrive and leave this world, not only my own, but my brethren in the fancy. I share my knowledge and socialize my dogs so that they will be the advertisement for my dedication.
I don't keep track of the money and time I put in to my love of dogs, it would not be true measure of how I feel. I support my friends in the fancy, because it takes a village sometimes and only WE know how things are for us.
The price I charge for my puppies is never profit, but investment in the next generation. I will not be ashamed of who I am, I work hard at being a good dog person and encouraging others to be the same. I am a breeder and I am proud of it.
